Starships in Fact and Fiction
.Edited by - Marc Dale, Spring 2012

SUMMARY

Traveling to the stars is a feat not easily accomplished. While Starships have received exposure many times in film and television, not much attention has been given to the Starships of reality. This wiki link will provide information of both the starships of reality and fantasy.

ACCURACY:
With over 60 notes and references from sources such as Washington DC's Research Center and the American Astronautical Society, this article is extremely well written with credible facts, numbers and speculation on future endeavors Project Orion may undertake.

READABILITY and CLARITY:
While the article has a reading level of grade 12.3, it is a somewhat lengthy and difficult read. Readers should be prepared to look up definitions of words as well as spending a decent amount of time to cover the whole article.

EASE OF NAVIGATION:
A plethora of information is on the internet about Project Orion and its would be objective. The website Astronautix.com is chalk full of information regarding a wide array of topics involving all things astronomy. Although, the website can seem quite cluttered and can be somewhat difficult to find further information unless you clearly know what you are looking for.

ACCURACY:
Although this cite does not have many credible sources, the wealth of information in this particular archive is more than sufficient to give the website credibility. With information and layouts from sections of the Falcon ranging from the gun turrets to the data hubs on the star ship.

READABILITY and CLARITY:
The archive is written in a casual setting for a casual audience. Jargon and terms are explained right after use and the topics are well explained and grouped in a way where understanding the information is not a problem.

EASE OF NAVIGATION:
The web archive has an immense amount of information regard everything about the Millennium Falcon. It even has information regarding it's captain and crew and the politics and problems that follow them through the course of the Millennium Falcon's life. Other information regarding the star ship is easily found through other wiki cites as well as through encyclopedias sponsored by Lucas Arts.

ACCURACY:
This incredibly well put together presentation was done by the Icarus project leader for the Advanced Space Propulsion Workshop in 2010. The presentation goes immensely in depth about things ranging from the propulsion system being used on the Icarus vehicle down to the type of fuel being used. It is very accurate considering it is coming from the project leader as well as having references to numerous publications made by other experts in the field of space and star ships.

READABILITY and CLARITY:
Because the presentation is meant for a workshop of like minded individuals interested on the subject of space propulsion, some of the figures slides can be quite confusing for the average person. While some understanding is achievable through research done yourself, the mathematics and other explanations can be quite convoluted for the average reader.

EASE OF NAVIGATION:
The reason I chose this presentation was because it clearly states the objectives and parameters of Project Icarus as well as showing the technical side and showcasing how they would achieve the goal. Other information and less technical jargon on Project Icarus is easily found.

ACCURACY:
This article is on the propulsion system that Project Icarus is supposed to be using to get itself into space. It is written by the same person who wrote the presentation used about about Icarus. Because of this, we can logically assume that the credibility of this article is extremely reliable. Also, because it is backed by a company such as Discovery News, the article has a well known educational source backing it.

READABILITY and CLARITY:
The accessibility of this article is much better in comparison to Dr.Obusy's other material mentioned above. While there are no mathematical equations on the exact fuel measurements and propulsion techniques, it is still described in detail on the technology that would be used to get project Icarus into space.

EASE OF NAVIGATION:
Information is very easily gathered on Project Daedalus as well as its partner project Project Icarus. By using the Discovery News website this article is hosted on I was able to find multiple other articles as well as a small number of videos showcasing the technology in use with these star ships.

ACCURACY:
While this website does not contain as much information as the other cites used for the star ships above, the information gives general and sound information on the general specs of the ship as well as multiple details on missions and other facts about the Enterprise.

READABILITY and CLARITY:
This cite is not difficult to read or understand at all. The only difficulty readers may come across is not knowing some of the jargon used on this particular article such as certain races residing in the Star Trek universe such as Romulan or Klingon. Luckily, the website provides clickable links to all the lingo so that the explanations are easily found.

EASE OF NAVIGATION:
Although this website does not go as in depth as propulsion systems and living quarters, the website contains a large amount of information regarding other star ships in the Star Trek universe. Other information about the enterprise is easily found through the internet by reading other wiki's and encyclopedia websites.
