Betelgeuse is a Star in the Orion constellation. It is the ninth brightest planet in the night sky, and is classified as a Red Giant. A red giant is a Star nearing the end of its life, Betelgeuse will turn Supernova soon, relatively speaking anyway. To give you an idea of size, if you were to place Betelgeuse in the Sun's position, it would reach further than Jupiter's orbit. It's pretty close only about 600 light-years away and because it's so big it burns bright as the second brightest star in the Orion constellation.
